Rakesh has proudly served as the visionary behind Common Bond Cafe & Bakery’s pastry team and Common Bond Cake’s cake team since 2016. Rakesh always had a passion for cooking as child, though it was time spent in the kitchen with his mother that made him realize he wanted to be a chef. His love for pastry was ignited when he worked at the Le Meridien Hotel in Mumbai, and since then he’s never looked back. Before his time at Common Bond, he created sweet creations for the Hilton Mumbai, Star Cruises, Royal Caribbean and finally Bibble & Sip in NYC. Although surrounded by sugar every day, Rakesh says his life’s sweetest moment is meeting his wife, who inspired him to begin practicing Falun Dafa, a spiritual practice based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance.
Sarah Ono Jones
Sarah is a nationally acclaimed custom cake designer who’s been with the Common Bond Cakes team since 2018. A mother of four, she discovered her love of sculpting as a teenager, but it was a cake decorating class she received for Mother's Day that awakened her sculpting skills to the edible medium of cake and fondant. She began her cake sculpting career in Knoxville, TN where she created a buzz through local and regional competitions wow-ing judges as she went. This ultimately lead to a call from Food Network for Halloween Wars and a position as the Lead Custom Cake Designer at Magpies Bakery in Knoxville where she had cakes appear in Martha Stewart Weddings and Southern Living magazines. Sarah is thrilled to be a Houstonian now, decorating as a part of the Common Bond Cakes team for this dynamic and diverse city.
